Basketball: Shooting

Hold the ball with your dominant hand on the middle of the ball. Your other hand should be on the left (or right) of the ball (this is called your guide hand).

Elbows should be about shoulder width apart as well as feet. Your corresponding foot with the dominant hand should be slightly ahead of your other foot (right handed, right foot ahead).

Bend your knees to no more than a 45degree angle to give you power as you extend your arm to shoot.

As you extend your knees to jump (or as you stand) make sure you extend your elbows as well.

While letting go off the ball, your dominant hand should push the ball towards the front of the rim in an ARC travel. Your middle and index finger should spin the ball upon leaving your palm. Pretend you are reach into a cookie jar near the end of your shot.
